What does Code Enforcement do?

Code Enforcement enforces the El Paso County Land Development Code and certain County Ordinances

Common Land Development Code violations include:

• Inoperable vehicles
• Occupied vehicles
• Operating businesses prohibited by zoning
• Setbacks requirements
• Animal keeping

Ordinance violations include:

• Weeds in excess of nine (9) inches in height on residential properties less than 2 1/2 acres in size
• Outdoor accumulation of rubbish such as used tires, appliances, furniture, trash, etc.

• Ordinance No. 18-01: Requiring the Removal of Weeds and Brush
• Ordinance No. 18-02: Prohibiting the Accumulation of Rubbish
• Ordinance No. 18-03: Requiring the Removal of Unsafe Buildings
• Ordinance No. 96-3: Graffiti

Code Enforcement does not enforce on the following:

• On-street parking

• Building Code/unpermitted structures
  • Report to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department at 719-327-2880
• Animal welfare/abuse

  • Report to Animal Law Enforcement (if applicable) at 719-302-8798
• Living conditions inside a home
