Purpose

The El Paso County Board of County Commissions (BOCC) has the authority to appoint citizens to serve as members of an advisory board known as the El Paso County Planning Commission (PC) pursuant to C.R.S. § 30-28-103 and C.R.S. § 30-28-104. The PC is authorized to review planning petitions, make recommendations to the BOCC on land use requests, and to adopt a Master Plan for unincorporated areas of the County. The PC also has the authority to make the final determination regarding Approval of Location applications pursuant to C.R.S. § 30-28-110.

Meetings

Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 9:00 A.M. in the second floor hearing room of the Regional Development Center located at 2880 International Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. The meetings shall be noticed and open to the public.

Members and Length of Terms

The PC shall consist of nine Regular members and up to five Associate members. Regular members are appointed for three-year terms. Associate members are appointed for one-year terms. There are no term limits, and all vacancies are advertised in accordance with BOCC rules and procedures.
